CAD & Product Design · Design Partner

Bring an engineer in from the first sketch.

More than printing — a design partner who takes your idea, problem, or rough concept and turns it into a manufacturable part. SolidWorks CAD, 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and design-for-manufacture under one roof in Kitchener–Waterloo.

Design work delivered for

What we do

Design that’s built to be made.

{ }

What we design

Mechanical design for parts that have to be manufactured, not just rendered. Everything is modelled parametrically so it stays editable long after we hand it over.

  • Parametric modelling — clean feature trees you or another engineer can actually pick up and change later.
  • Assembly design — multi-part assemblies with fits, fasteners, and tolerance stack-ups worked out before anything is cut.
  • Enclosure & product design — sensor packaging, heatset inserts, sealing and serviceability designed in from the start.
  • Reverse engineering — 3D scan a physical part and rebuild it as editable CAD, for replacements or improvements.
  • Design for manufacture — wall thickness, draft, material and process chosen before they become expensive.

How a project runs

Design work goes wrong when it happens at arm’s length. Ours runs as a loop with real parts in it — you hold the thing before we commit to it.

  • Scope together — what it has to do, survive, cost and weigh, agreed before any modelling starts.
  • Concepts to react to — early CAD and options, so you’re steering direction rather than approving a finished thing.
  • Printed, not just rendered — prototypes off our own machines in days, because a part in your hand settles arguments a screen can’t.
  • Iterate on evidence — changes driven by what the physical part did, not by guesswork.
  • Handover, then production — files you own, and the same shop to make them in.

How we work

Sketch to tooling, one partner.

1

Discovery

Scope the problem, requirements, and constraints together.

2

Concept

Initial CAD and directions to react to.

3

Prototype

Print and test real parts, iterate fast.

4

Refine

Design for manufacture and finalise.

5

Produce

Into batch or bridge production through the same shop.

6

Scale

When volumes justify it, we hand the part to injection moulding — still ours to manage.

“We design and build under one roof — so there's no hand-off between the person who draws the part and the people who make it.”

What you get

Files you own, not a black box.

Everything we produce is handed over in editable, portable formats. If you take the project elsewhere tomorrow, nothing is locked up here.

{ }

Native & neutral CAD

SolidWorks part and assembly files, plus STEP and IGES so any shop or any software can pick it up.

▤

Engineering drawings

Dimensioned, tolerated drawings with material and finish callouts — what a manufacturer actually quotes against.

▣

Print-ready geometry

STL and 3MF prepared for the process, so the prototype comes back the way the model intended.

✦

Renders & visuals

Presentation renders and exploded views for pitch decks, investors, and customer approval.

Common questions

CAD & design, answered.

How do projects get priced?
Most projects start with a short consult to scope the effort, then a clear estimate before any work begins — no surprises. Get in touch and we'll walk through it.
Can you reverse-engineer an existing part?
Yes — we turn a physical part or sketch into a clean, editable CAD model, with or without 3D scanning, then refine it for manufacture.
What CAD software and outputs do you provide?
We design in SolidWorks and deliver STEP files, engineering drawings, and print-ready models — whatever your downstream process needs.
Do you make the parts too?
Yes — that's the advantage. We design and then print, finish, and produce under one roof, so there's no hand-off between designer and manufacturer.
Do you work under NDA?
Routinely — we partner with startups and product teams under NDA and keep your concepts confidential.
In their words

Design partners, in their words.

“Working with Ethan is an absolute breeze. He consistently offers up viable design and print solutions for my team and me in the never ending pursuit to build better grow systems. He is amazing at both interpreting and designing useful products in a way that continues to excite my design ideas and fuel my innovation. If I can dream it, he can bring it to life. Highly recommended by the crew at OGGO Growth Systems Inc.”
